NWG Conference

'I had the opportunity to attend this year's NWG conference with the Rose team. The conference spanned 3 mornings, and was comprised of keynote presentations, along with a variety of elective sessions that covered a variety of topics- from working with parents as safeguarding partners, to understanding how trauma can affect our bodies and minds. I was particularly impacted by the keynote presentation from NoFiltr, on how we can build resilience in our young people to navigate threats online. Overall, the conference was an engaging opportunity to witness how CSE is being tackled and approached by a range of organisations, and has led to group reflections and discussions within the team on how we can implement what we learned.' Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week

UK Mental Health Awareness Week takes place this week, from 10th to 16th May, 2021. This year's theme is nature and the environment. The evidence is clear that access to nature is crucial for our mental health, and millions of people discovered that during lockdowns in 2020. However, this was not the same for all of us. MHAW 2021 will explore what the barriers to accessing nature are, and ensure that everyone is able to share in the natural world and experience its mental health benefits. Find out more on how to get involved in this year's campaign at www.mentalhealth.org.uk/campaigns/mental-health-awareness-week.

Session for professionals

Guest feedback, following this morning's session for professionals, hosted by Abbie & Jess : "I’ve just come out of the meeting with your colleagues and found it so useful. I was really interested to hear about the support that the Rose Project offers to children and young people, and I was particularly interested to hear about the upcoming outreach work that is hopefully going to happen with schools once restrictions are eased." If you would like to book a place on a future session, please contact the office on 01603 610256 or e-mail vivienne@magdalenegroup.org

NWG conference

Members of the Rose team are attending the NWG annual enhanced programme of learning & development conference 2021, necessarily online, this week. "This provides an opportunity for professional and personal development, exploring cutting edge techniques and new learning to prevent and safeguard children, young people and young adults at risk or engaged in exploitation, including sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, human trafficking and modern slavery. The 2021 event will use the latest technology, bringing interactive workshops and keynote speakers, and spread over 3 half days to ensure it is accessible to as many delegates as possible." Team reports to follow.
